Biography
Hannah is an incoming Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Minnesota. She is originally from Lawrenceville, IL - a small agricultural town in southern Illinois (population of 4,000). Hannah received her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, followed by postdoctoral training at Stanford University. Her research advances separation technologies for the selective recovery of environmental pollutants and resources.
Hannah’s expertise spans gaseous and aqueous separations, including nutrient and critical mineral recovery from water and greenhouse gas removal from air. By integrating fundamental material design, advanced characterization, process optimization, and system assessment, her research program accelerates the deployment of emerging separation technologies. Her research and mentoring contributions have been recognized through several honors, including being named a CAS Future Leader, MIT Rising Star, NSF Graduate Research Fellow, and ARCS Scholar, and awards from AIChE Women in Chemical Engineering and the International Adsorption Society.
